Hey hey hey! The NYC journey didn’t start out so smoothly. I got in a cab at 5.30 am and was on my way to LAX. When the driver asked me which airline I was going with, I totally blanked, guessed Virgin America, and had to call and wake up Carin to give me flight information. At the airport, apparently EVERYONE was flying with VA. It took forever to get through the check-in line (yes I check my weekend bag - I’m a rich bitch) but security was surprisingly fast. I only had to wait at the gate for approximately 15 minutes, got on the plane and passed out.

Woke up 6,5 hours later and was officially on the east coast. My phone had died during the flight, I had no money on me - just the plastics, and I didn’t know where I was supposed to go. Fortunately, there was a sweet lady at the baggage claim area who let me use the wallsocket to charge my phone so I could send a text to Yvonne, telling her I was on my way to Manhattan.

After an hour or so on the A train, I met up with Yvonne and she took me to her office where we met Kasper(!) went out for Vietnamese food (GOD I LOVE PHO!) and just enjoyed the overall NY atmosphere - which was freezing by the way. Later on in the evening we met up with Jesper and KimÃ¥ne and went to an underground party somewhere in Brooklyn. There we saw Bunny Rabbit (For those who know their wigga rap/hip hop, agree that it’s a lame name - I mean it’s been used, so…) and Black Cracker perform. It was cool, I just wasn’t in a party mood since I hadn’t slept more than the 6,5 hours on the plane. But, fun times anyways!

On Saturday Yvonne and I went for a bagel breakfast in Bedstuy. God I love the combo of lox, red onions and cream cheese on a toasted bagel, mmm… Afterwards we took a train to Manhattan, went for cupcakes at Magnolia Bakery, she took me to see Carrie’s apartment (Of course!) and then it was time to catch our sightseeing bus tour at Time Square. If you haven’t been on a bus tour, do it - IT IS AWESOME. I got to see downtown NY + the Empire State Building, and the day couldn’t have been more perfect for touristing. In the evening we went for an afghani dinner in the East Village, went back to Bedstuy and waited for my roomies to come back. I was supposed to go to bed early, but Kim brought 40’s and we ended up talking and laughing until 4 AM.

Yvonne and Kasper came by Jesper’s and Kim’s apartment around 11 or 12 the next morning. I said goodbye to Jesper, Kim (And Ty, one of the cooler girls I’ve met in a while), and thanked them for letting me stay and whatever. But, there was no time for sobbing - it was yet another awesome breakfast; American pancakes with fresh berries, maple syrup and butter, YUM! After, I said goodbye to Kasper and me and Yvonne went on a window-shopping spree (We went to all the fancy, expensive stores), had thai food and jumped on the train towards JFK. She got of a couple of stations after we got on, so we had to say goodbye and… I think that wraps up my trip to New York City. BIG SHOUT OUTS to all the people that made this weekend so good - thanks y’all!
